For maximum security, AutoHome roof top tents should be mounted to cross bar systems that are key lockable. Many of our customers have also asked for a simple, foolproof security solution for making tents secure against removal from the cross bars. We now have a very good solution – simple, easy to install, and theft proof. Cheap insurance – once fitted, they cannot be removed by any ordinary means.

The Tuffnut Security Kit includes 10 TuffNuts (you need 8 to use with the standard mounting hardware). We provide two extras for securing the TufNuts when mounting. Complete instructions are included. Our TuffNuts are manufactured in the US of cold rolled steel, case-hardened to Rockwell 55, and plated with corrosion resistant Chloride Zinc and Yellow Chromate to a thickness of .0002"-.0005". Tufnuts do NOT require washers.

A TuffNut is threaded, finger-tight, onto the standard bolt supplied with the mounting hardware. Do not use washers supplied with mounting hardware.	A second TuffNut is then installed with the cone side facing up	An open end wrench is inserted between the two nuts to tighten.	Once fastened, the second, upward facing, nut is removed -- leaving your tent securely fastened to the rack system.
